So for reasons even unexplainable to me I decided to go to Las Vegas in early March. Actually I know why I went: To unwind. Life has been pretty stressful lately for me both personally and professionally so the idea of going to Vegas sounded nice. Of course the idea of “stress free” means a long car ride, booking a hotel, and then walking the MASSIVE strip. But hey, stuff like this always seems to get me in a zone so it was no biggie.
For the purposes of this trip I decided to recorded into two, separate posts. This first one involves all my encounters in the day time while tomorrow will showcase the nightlife. I spent a lot of my trip taking photos and experiencing Vegas up close. So I hope to let you, the reader, also enjoy the city the way I did.
Driving to VegasI left pretty damn early, around 4am and the first picture showcases somewhere in the middle of California around 7am.
Still in California, post Barstow.
Somewhere in the Mojave Desert.
Still in the Mojave Desert
If you pass Buffalo Bill’s it means you are close! But unless you are a great, big fat person I’d say avoid.
Finally! Vegas! (I came in through I-15 so I did not encounter the iconic Welcome sign.)
The RoomMy humble abode for the next twenty four hours: Bally’s. A pretty cheap and good place to stay if you are looking online.
Pretty spacious and nice room for one person.
My view from the window. Not bad despite the Flamingo on the very left edge of the frame blocking the rest of the strip.
Now I am ready to walk the strip and see what’s out there!
The Strip (Note: I am going to put these hotels in ALPHABETICAL ORDER. Just to make it easier to know what is what rather than trying to geographically put this in order.)

Second attempt at gambling inside MGM Grand. Spoiler Alert: Lasted maybe a few minutes longer but still lost all the money.

Oh don’t mind Paris, they just occasionally have burlesque dancers at their card tables.

The closest I’ll get to The Stratosphere (cause that’s a far walk!)
